GUESS GAME

Guess who has which card. The person who collects the most cards wins! It's that simple.

THE TARGET LANGUAGE

Explain what the Target Language (TL) will be. For example: Are you ____ing ___?

SET UP  

Put all the blue cards in a stack and deal the cards:

3 players = 5 cards each

4 players = 4 cards each

5 players = 3 cards each

6 players = 2 cards each

HOW TO PLAY (2-6 players)

1. Player 1 suspects Jay has the "watch TV card and says:  Are you watching TV?  . . . Jay!  (say the name last to keep all players on their toes)

2. If Jay has the "watch TV" card, he answers: Yes, I am  and passes the card to Player 1.

3. Player 1 places the card "face up"  on his/her desk, so everybody can see that this card is taken.

If Jay doesn't have the "watch TV" card, he answers No, I'm not.

4.  The players take turns (going clockwise) asking questions until all cards are taken or until it is time to stop.

The player with the most card wins

＊ You are not allowed to ask somebody for a Topic card which you are holding yourself. (this sometimes happens with very small children)

＊ If a player runs out of cards, (s)he can still ask questions when it's their turn...   Everybody stays in the game until all the cards are taken!

＊ For students who don't know or remember the cards yet, put an extra set on the board and write numbers above them. This way the students can just say the number so you can model the TL for them first ...

＊ When a card is taken, flip the card on the board around, so it is obvious to everybody that this card is out of the game.
