DOUBLE CHECK
Here is a quick way to find out if your students know what they are talking about!!
DECIDING THE TARGET LANGUAGE
1. Only the Topic names: Read a book! etc.
2. The teacher decides: For example: Are you ____ing ____?
3. The students decide the TL for each card themselves. (advanced)
SET UP
1. Select the topic cards you want to review. (one color per pair/group)
2. Split your class into pairs. (if you have a lot of students, make small groups)
3. Give one student (Student 1) a stack of cards to review.
HOW TO PLAY
1. Student 1 holds the stack up, showing only the bottom card to student 2.
2. Student 2 uses the TL.
3. Student 1 repeats the target language in Japanese, but is not allowed to look at the card.
4. If the Japanese is wrong, Student 2 repeats the target language until student 1 gets it right.
If the Japanese is correct, Student 2 says YES! and Student 1 moves the bottom card to the top of the stack, displaying the next bottom card.
5. When the first card shows up again, the game is over and it becomes Student 2's turn to hold the cards.
* If a pair finishes early, reverse things.....Student 2 says the target language in Japanese and Student 1 in English....
